The ANZ bank has announced that Sohaib Mahmood has been appointed as Country Head, Fiji.
He will take on the role in addition to his current responsibilities as Head of Commercial Banking, Pacific, subject to regulatory approvals.

His leadership experience across the Pacific, including roles in Samoa, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands, where he previously served as Country Head.
He currently leads a regional team of more than 200 staff supporting Corporate, Commercial, Government and Institutional clients across the Pacific.
Sarah Stubbings, Regional Executive, Pacific, ANZ, said Mahmood’s appointment reflects the bank’s commitment to continuity and deep regional expertise, adding: “He is passionate about financial inclusion and economic development, and his experience will be invaluable as we continue supporting Fiji’s economic growth. I’m confident Sohaib will ensure continued stability, prudent risk management and strong engagement with the Reserve Bank of Fiji.”
Mahmood said he was honoured to take on the leadership of ANZ Fiji. “I look forward to working closely with our customers, regulators, partners and communities as we continue to support Fiji’s economic ambitions. We have a strong, talented team in Fiji, and together we’ll continue delivering great outcomes for our customers and the broader economy.”
Mahmood replaces Rabih Yazbek, who will work with him over the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition. Yazbek will move to his new role as Head of Client Coverage for the United Kingdom and Europe at the beginning of April.
