Guangdong-Fiji roadshow opens doors for investment

A roadshow profiling products from Guangdong, China has returned to Fiji for its fifth edition, bringing about 43 companies together to showcase products and explore trade and investment opportunities.
Guangdong is one of China’s leading centres for manufacturing, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the opening yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica said Fiji is ready to work with Guangdong on trade, investment, technology transfer and green development.
“For Fiji, engagements of this scale translate into jobs for people, technology transfer that builds local capacity and wide access to affordable and quality goods that supports our manufacturing, construction, and agricultural sectors,” he said.
Kamikamica also said that Guangdong’s experience in advanced manufacturing, digital technology, renewable energy and smart appliances could complement Fiji’s development priorities.
In her remarks, Madame Zhang Guozhi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province says Fiji’s strategic location, established business networks and potential for re-export make it well placed to serve as a gateway to other Pacific Island markets.
“China has become Fiji’s second-largest source of imports and an important source of investment and tourist arrivals. In 2025, bilateral trade reached US$652 million, an increase of 22% year on year,” she continued.
Guozhi shared that in 2025, trade between Guangdong and Fiji reached US$93.03 million, accounting for 14.3% of China-Fiji bilateral trade.
“From January to June this year, trade between Guangdong and Fiji reached US$67.28 million, up 87.3% year on year. A number of Guangdong enterprises have actively participated in investment and development projects in Fiji,” she said.
Guozhi said Guangdong would seek to deepen its economic ties with Fiji through increased investment, greater cooperation in the digital economy and trade, and stronger business-to-business engagement under the Belt and Road cooperation programme.
The showcase featured a range of emerging technologies and products, including AI-powered robots, robotic dogs, drones, smart wearable devices, mobile communication technology, green energy solutions and energy storage equipment.
